Word of the week

Molweni,

This is how you say hello when addressing a group of people in xhosa. I have just registered for a class at the local college for learning the xhosa language. I have already started using classroom words like work, and finish, and thank you. So good.

Matt - this is really exciting! Good to hear from you - hope things are well and that xhosa is easier in a classroom then it was at the breakfast table at Mt. Manresa!

Molweni...cool word. In Fon (Benin, Africa), the word for hello is Kudeu. Sounds like things have started off on the right foot, once you made it out of the airport. I can't wait to hear more about what you're doing. I leave for Benin on Friday. It'll be fun to be on the same continent as you for a couple weeks. Are those some of your students in the pics by the way? If you haven't done it yet, check out my blog, I've posted a few things in preparation for our trip.
Stay safe and healthy,
Pia

Dear Matt:

Thanks for the cool rhino sculpture and the post card. Someday would love to learn more about the art form and artist if you know them. The statement on the card is so kind and wonderful, and brought tears to my eyes. I thank you for your message.

Peace and love, Bob Runkle
